Nearly 25,000 residences in Queensland's southeast were left experiencing outages on Monday morning after intense storm systems impacted the region, bringing strong winds hitting over 100 km/h.
Substantial Ice Stones and Widespread Destruction
Residents reported large ice chunks measuring up to 7cm in particular locations. Weather authorities announced that different parts across the state had been impacted by large hailstones.

Utility workers were attempting to repair electricity service throughout the damaged zones, with nearly 70 crews activated to address the numerous electricity disruptions.
Southern State's Weather Woes
Simultaneously, nearly one thousand energy customers in Victoria also encountered power outages after Melbourne saw its heaviest rainfall in over 500 days.
Emergency response teams received 598 requests for assistance across the state, primarily for property damage but also for downed trees and water accumulation.

At one point on yesterday, over 28k electricity consumers in Victoria were without power.
Climate Outlook
Moist weather were predicted to continue along much of the state's eastern regions this next several days as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the coast.
Tomorrow was expected to become the wettest day, with ongoing thunderstorm potential expected across multiple regions of both states.

Medical authorities alerted that there was an higher risk of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the northern rural areas, particularly given the current weather patterns.
