The second-hand marketplace Members Share Anger Regarding Sizing Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's garments but did not contact all users about the change.
Digital Channels Backlash
Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Updates
Before the change, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Stories
One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
Another shopper, located in England, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: earlier, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
